getting into the spirit...

hallowe'en, rather than holy. (when in rome...)

so, tonight was craft night. sketching face designs, then the fun part... knifing and gutting and scooping and lighting and admiring. and then the weird smell of burnt pumpkin head.

the hallowe'en decorations in the neighbourhood are like nothing i have ever seen. people go wild. i'll have to take some pictures. there are corpses, cobwebs and tombstones in almost every front yard. even suburbia needs to rock out it seems... speaking of which, i have spent far too many hours of the past couple of days watching weeds. mary-louise parker is great. smart show; it's worth checking out for the introductory credits alone.

this week i have made it out of the house, however. down the street to eddie's attic to hear rosie thomas and over the rhine. what a show. i think i am still taking this one in. it was exquisite. rosie thomas is cute as hell. talks like she's on helium, laughs like a comedian, sings like a tragedian. amazing. (wouldn't have minded hearing pretty dress, but loved much farther to go.) as for otr, well, they were sexy as hell, funky as hell, jazzy, bluesy, smoothy muso floozies. loved it. photo's so messy, but it was that kind of moment. fantastic.
