i have found myself talking about our appetites recently... the things we crave and the cravings we celebrate together. so many of these seem to be diuretics. we want a caffeine hit and a nicotine buzz. we want alcoholed breath and a sugar rush. we want a spiritual high and live sex on big brother. but do we want to find ourselves or lose ourselves in such sensorial overload? what is it we are hungry for? what sustenance do we crave? and can we dare to speak about this craving, or will we just all get drunk together?
maybe soon we can dispense with living rooms altogether. in the land of the blog, there is no need for eye contact. we have advanced far beyond this. we are time efficient. who needs the flicker of firelight from a winter hearth with the sharing of stories when we can have the neon glare of fluorescent light and computer screens from within our office blocks and studies?
we are so virtually connected we are virtually strangers.
who are you?
are you there?
and who i am?
is there an us?
what is it that connects us?
fill out the comment box if you dare. this is not life. it is just a pausing place.
